Nienburg's 52nd Old Town Festival will take place from September 26th to 29th, 2024! Over 60 bands, spread
across up to 7 stages, invite guests big and small throughout the old town to celebrate and have fun! Bargain
hunters get their money's worth at the traditional flea market on Saturday morning.

Anniversary: ​​500 years of Hans Staden in Homberg (Efze)

With Europe's largest samba show on June 15, 2024

This year, the guests and citizens of the city of Homberg (Efze) will have a cultural highlight that will be
present throughout the year and will have a great impact. The city of Homberg is celebrating the
anniversary “500 years of Hans Staden” together with the House of Reformation support group, the
organizational team and the German-Brazilian Society. The patron of the event series is Dr. Georg Witschel,
former ambassador to Brazil (2016–2020) and President of the German-Brazilian Society. An exhibition,
top-class lectures on the subject of Hans Staden, hand-made book printing, an author reading and a two-day
samba and folklore festival on the Homberg market square make up the colorful bouquet of events that the
organizational team has organized for all visitors.

The significance of Hans Staden's “Truthful Historia” for Brazil research

International scholars agree that the importance of Hans Staden, who was born in Homberg (Efze)
around 1525, cannot be overestimated. With his “Truthful Historia,” published in Marburg in 1557 by the
university printer Kolbe, Hans Staden laid the foundation for the tradition of (German-language) Brazilian
literature that is still alive today, especially for Brazilian research in Brazil. Reason enough for Hans Staden's
birthplace to put together a varied anniversary program.

Summer-Sunday-Concerts

The summer Saturday concerts have been very popular for many years. People like to interrupt their shopping
spree and/or meet up in the outdoor dining areas of the bars to listen to the cheerful sounds. At the start on
April 27, 2024, two well-known “faces” will provide the best entertainment
from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Manni Schmelz and Frank Winkler.

Let the music inspire you and pamper yourself with the hospitable service in the restaurants, cafes, beer gardens,
etc., because “Melsungen is worth it”!
Popular and well-known melodies will be played every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. until mid-September.

Our night watchman and his assistant will guide you through the evening city and entertain you with lively
anecdotes from the Middle Ages. The tour is spiced up with all sorts of special effects, and a
“Templar schnapps” is included.

The Dreieichenhain Castle Festival is an integral part of the festival summer program in southern Hesse.
Every year, tens of thousands of visitors flock to Dreieich to enjoy a diverse range of cultural offerings at Hayn
Castle that are known far beyond the city limits.

For six weeks, the castle offers an extraordinary backdrop for varied open-air events.
The program includes theater, opera, cabaret, concerts, variety shows and readings.
Regionally, nationally and internationally known artists are regular guests in the Burggarten and delight
the audience.

Hayn Castle and the natural stage have been known and popular as cultural venues for centuries.
The festival itself has a long tradition; since 2007 it has been under the direction of the Dreieich community centers.

The city tour takes you to the most important sights of our city. Bietigheim's largely preserved medieval old town
offers impressive signs of historical architecture paired with modern architecture and art in a very small space.
In a limited urban space, the buildings strive to be taller in order to outdo each other with their carvings and
decorations. At the same time, visitors today also encounter witnesses of our time. Numerous sculptures and
sculptures, such as the “Ku(h)riosum” – the cow on the jug or the “Tower of the Gray Horses” by Jürgen Goertz
populate the street space and thus give the cityscape a special tension. At the end you will encounter a work of
art of a special kind: the Villa Visconti with its more than 300 depictions of heads.

Curtain up! - Bietigheim's history staged

Theater tour

A special kind of tour: Immerse yourself deeply in the history of Bietigheim and be surprised at who you meet
there. Actors from the theater group of the Bissingen Sports Association will slip into the roles of people who
have had a significant impact on Bietigheim and will interrupt the city tour in an entertaining way and talk about
their time.
In addition to craftsmen, industrialists and high-ranking officials, the Wengerter should of course not be missing
here. Viticulture was the engine of the medieval economy and ensured prosperity and wealth. At the end of the
tour, a wine from today's time will be tasted and the history of viticulture in the Enztal will be discussed.

Jazzed Friends - Jazz Festival

“Jazzed Friends” mark the end of this year’s Mosbach summer in the moat. The soloists Nicole Metzger, Ingolf
Burkhardt, Ludwig Nuss and Steffen Weber, all of whom come from the region, are soundly supported by the Ralph
Schweizer Big Band under the direction of Ralph Schweizer, the University Big Band Siegen under its current leader
Martin Reuthner and the Baden State Youth Jazz Orchestra. Württemberg (LaJazzo BW) under the artistic direction
of Klaus Graf. The musical farewell to the summer program offers a final highlight of the open air event series.
On this evening, guests will enjoy an international musical cross-section from swing to funk to hot salsa rhythms.

At the 21st Schorndorf Art Night, the Schorndorf art scene presents itself with great attention to detail
across all areas of art. For this special night, studios are spruced up, new exhibition spaces are discovered,

Wine and City festival Gengenbach

The third weekend in September is firmly booked by wine lovers: that's when the Gengenbach Wine and
City Festival is celebrated in the historic old town - with excellent wines, atmospheric music and lots of delicacies.
In 2024 on September 14th and 15th. Wine growing has a long tradition in Gengenbach. Benedictine monks
planted the first vines in Gengenbach over a thousand years ago. And so the foundation stone for viticulture in
Ortenau was laid over 1,130 years ago. Not only did numerous vineyards emerge that still bear witness to this time
today. Wines from this area can be tasted as part of the Gengenbach Wine and City Festival. The old town
continues to provide a unique atmosphere.
