Experience Trochtelfingen

Trochtelfingen, the “gem” on the Swabian Alb, 720 to 878 m above sea level. With its 5 districts (Trochtelfingen,
Hausen, Mägerkingen, Steinhilben, Wilsingen) there are a total of around 6,300 residents. Trochtelfingen is
located on the so-called “Kuppenalb” on Hohenzollernstrasse and is known for the historic cityscape in the
core town. When people talk about the history of Trochtelfingen, they usually mean the history of this district,
which goes back to the Middle Ages. Numerous historical buildings and the medieval structured city layout bear
witness to a rich historical past. During a first walk through Marktstrasse and the adjoining alleys, what stands
out are the numerous buildings with their Franconian-Alemannic half-timbering on the upper Marktstrasse, the
remains of the medieval city fortifications with the high tower and the former castle, as well as the parish
church of St. Martin (in the There are valuable frescoes and sculptures) that catch the eye and convey something
of the special flair of this time-honored small town. In 1981 Trochtelfingen was awarded the title of
“state-recognized resort”.
