City between meadows, forest and vines

The large district town of Vaihingen an der Enz (27,900 inhabitants, 218 beds, 245m above sea level) with its
nine districts extends from the Enztal to the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park. The attractive landscape is
also known as “Swabian Tuscany”. In the “International City of Vines and Wine” viticulture has always been
practiced and wine culture cultivated. Kaltenstein Castle, once the seat of the Counts of Vaihingen, towers over the city center as a landmark that can
be seen from far away. Despite severe fires in the 17th century, the medieval cityscape was preserved.
Remains of the city wall, the mighty powder tower on the Enz and the slender Haspelturm testify to the city's
fortifications. Magnificent half-timbered houses on Vaihinger Mühlstrasse and on the historic market square
complete the cityscape. Half-timbered idylls can also be found in the picturesque wine town of Roßwag below the steep slopes of the
Enz and in the Stromberg towns of Ensingen, Gündelbach and Horrheim. Particularly worth seeing is the Great
House, a representative half-timbered building from the early 17th century, in the Enzweihingen district.
In Kleinlattbach it is worth visiting the unique candy museum and in Horrheim the viticulture museum and
the wine educational trail are tempting. Detours to the neighboring Celtic Museum in Hochdorf and to the Maulbronn Monastery - the UNESCO World
Heritage Site - are recommended.
