Osterode is the "Gateway to the Harz", the entrance to Northern Germany's most beautiful mountains and is

industrial monument? Nevertheless, there is also a lot to discover. Be it in the historic city or in the diverse surrounding area. After a few kilometers you will reach the Harz

mountain meadows. A paradise for hikers and nature lovers. The quality hiking trail “Harzer-Hexen-Stieg” from Osterode to Thale is “devilishly beautiful”, exciting and
demanding. The “Karstwanderweg” around Osterode, the “HarzerBaudensteig”, the “Försterstieg” or the highlight for mountain bikers, the “Volksbankarena-Harz”, with its 1,800 km of signposted mountain bike
