Markt Stadtlauringen

The Stadtlauringer market square is a landmark for Franconia in its unity. The picturesque two-story half-timbered
building of the town hall, built in 1563, decorated with two rows of St. Andrew's crosses on the market square side
and covered with a stately hipped roof, has a hall on the ground floor that runs from gate to gate. Two rows of
massive oak columns support the upper floor with the small and large council chambers. A half-timbered intermediate building and, in front of it, an ultra-modern steel/glass structure that accommodates
an elevator connect the town hall with the former community bakery. The market fountain in front of this ensemble shows a remarkable construction: three pillars support a six-sided
pointed roof on a round sandstone fountain surround. Small, historic half-timbered and plastered town and farm
houses frame the market square area.
