Treasure of half-timbered-architecture in the valley of the Dill

The well-preserved historic townscape offers a unique sense of flair with its huge array of magnificent multi-storey, timber-framed houses (15th to 18th century), which highlight the wealth enjoyed by the trading and university town in centuries gone by. The "Hohe Schule" college attracted international students and the castle today houses a successor institution. Just next to this, the thousand-year-old town church overlooks the romantic old town. Given the title "Nassauisches Rothenburg" over a hundred years ago, you are sure to be captivated by this delightful half timbered town.

Discover a modern town in historic shape - during a stroll on your own or during a guided sightseeing tour. The pedestrian area offers many shops and nice cafés and restaurants. Enjoy the wide range of regional products on our weekly local market every Friday. Herborn is also located in a first-class hiking area and is starting point of premium routes like the "Westerwaldsteig", and located on the bike-trail "R8". The cultural live offers a lot of entertainment in Herborns theater "KulturScheune" and many events like wine-festival, concerts, markets and exhibitions.  It is worth a visit in every time of the year!
