Half-timbered town of Homberg (Efze) - Imposing and worth seeing with history that can be experienced

Fantastic half-timbered atmosphere and unique location

The silhouette of the castle ruins with the tower and the town church of St. Mary below can be seen from afar.
The district town of the Schwalm-Eder district is embedded in the uniquely beautiful volcanic landscape between
Schwalm and Eder above the romantic Efzetal. Surrounded by rolling hills and dense forests in the Knüllgebirge
region, the ruins of the Hohenburg tower, visible from afar, on the basalt cone high above the half-timbered town. You can experience impressive architecture around the Homberg market square: an almost completely preserved,
fantastically beautiful half-timbered setting. It dates back to a rich and prosperous time as a wool, cloth and salt
trading town. A city wall with high defensive towers (some of which are still preserved) bears witness to this
medieval period, when attacks on the city were part of everyday life.
