Nienburg

Half-timbered buildings as far as the eye can see

The picturesque half-timbered town was first mentioned in documents in 1025. The town, which today has around
33,000 inhabitants, was an important fortress town at the Weser crossing in the Middle Ages. Lovingly restored half-timbered buildings, Burgmannshöfe such as the Posthof (library) or the Fresenhof (museum),
farmer's or patrician houses bear witness to Nienburg's history. The best way to explore Nienburg's old town is with a walk along the “Nienburg Bear Trail”. Follow the bear paws
through the old town and get to know the sights of Nienburg. The trail takes you past the city's landmark, the
parish church of St. Martin, the town hall from the Weser Renaissance period, past the Stockturm and the Quaet
Faslem House. The architectural styles of all eras from several centuries are reflected in the old town. Or enjoy Nienburg by and on the water. Take a bike tour on Germany's most popular bike path - the Weser bike
path - and take a ride on the "Flotte Weser" passenger ship. Nienburg also offers a lot for culinary enjoyment. Try the well-known Nienburg asparagus, the Weser eel or
take a seat at our 400 m long table and enjoy the annual jacket potato dinner with herring and stippe. We look forward to your visit and warmly welcome you today.
