Marktbreit

Marktbreit, located at the southernmost point of the Main Triangle, has a lot to offer its guests. Well-kept
restaurants offer high-quality culinary delights, but down-to-earth and Franconian dishes also find their place on
the menus. An excellent glass of wine rounds off the meal. If not here – then where! The best place to drink wine
is where it grows. If then a native of the market, namely Dr. August Ziegler 1885 - 1937 crossed the Rieslaner
grape variety, it would almost be an educational gap not to taste at least a glass of this fine wine. Another native market broadener is Dr. Alois Alzheimer 1864 - 1915. In 1906 he first described the dementia
disease that was later named after him. His birthplace can be visited as part of a guided tour. On hikes to the surrounding heights you can always enjoy beautiful views of the Main Valley. But short walks in
the shady Breitbachtal also have their charm. Our tour guides will be happy to accompany you on various
excursions through the historic, lively and lovely old town. For example, you can walk around the old town on the
Marktbreiter Turmweg. It goes along the often very well-preserved city fortifications with their towers and gates.
Other paths around Marktbreit are signposted. Gnodstadt is a district of Marktbreit and has been easily accessible by bike since October 2020 on a newly
created cycle path. Other cycle paths run through Marktbreit, especially the Main cycle path. It was awarded
five stars by the ADFC in 2008 as the first long-distance cycle route.
